WELCOME CEREMONY
All mountain bikers are invited to be part of this great lunchtime occassion. The competitors will first be welcome to Wellington by the Minister of Sport on the steps of Parliament. Following the welcome, everyone is invited to be part of a 'Mountain Bike Parade' through central Wellington to Civic Square. Then the Ngati Poneke will welcome the riders to Wellington. The Observed Trials Demonstration follows the welcome at Civic Square.

TREE PLANTING
At the turn of the century every tree on Mt Victoria was burnt down to make way for farming. Since then most of it has been reforested, but a few patches of grass and scrub remain. The Wellington City Council is giving us 1000 native trees to plant next to the velodrome during the World Cup weekend. Helps us restore Mt Victoria to it's native splendour by planting a few trees during the weekend. Experienced tree planters will be on hand to help.

METALLOGENY RIDEABLE ART AWARDS
